To some of you that are saying you can't, why don't you just put the perfect weapons you want to put on your PvP Character into your Storage from your PvE Character?

yep i use my warrior and monk who both have full fissure armor and perfect items and multiple sets of helm/headpieces, offhands/shields and weapons for different roles in PvP. Actually my back 2 bags are full of equipment that i use.

Defensive holy staff of defense (who on earth named that at Anet?). Insightful is garbage. My energy reserves bottom out at 73 energy. If I've been forced to burn into that much energy I really doubt that +5 is going to help me. The enchanting wrapping is so marginal at best - yay one extra second on my RoF, one extra second on my guardian. If the RoF is lasting that long it wasn't critical, or if it was critical I'd have replaced it. The guardian is nice but kind of blah as well. One extra second isn't that huge. You can chain it allready and the overall drop in energy used is pretty low.

On the other hand, when you have a warrior wailing away at you having AL 80 is very nice. Especially when you coudln't get a guardian up because your being knocklocked or something.

That isn't the issue. The issue is you can't easily get perfect weapons in PvE.

The reason why you see more and more top guilds running PvE characters is versatility. It is beneficial to have all that extra equipment. On the otherhand they can afford it. A couple of runs to halls, 30 sigils or so later and they are sitting on enough cash to buy whatever they want. For the average player they can't afford it and are going into PvP at a disadvantage.

I currently use my pve monk for _most_ pvp'ing and only because he is completely kitted out for doing so - with him having more staffs etc there are more options available - in that I can say - change to +60hp staff against spike teams, and swap to a minor scalp for example. I have spent endless amounts of gold on my monk and still there are times when I need to roll a pvp monk to have the equipment I need. If I ever wanted to ViM monk, I would re-roll for example since I am lacking equipment to do that as of yet

On ranger spiking with greens - as far as I'm aware there are no Green 5/1 vamp horn bows of fortitude, +15 while enchanted - which are what you should be using to be ideal. there are however collectors bow for it....

So... I would only use my pve monk if it will give me an advantage - If I can roll something that is even slightly better, then I'll make a pvp character for it

But eventually it might make the difference between life or death. So why bother running rubbish equipment and risk possibly even being the cause of losing an entire match? Most very even flagstand battles tend to snowball once there is a kill.

It's called Storage. Use it.

Boon Prots don't benefit much at all from any prot recharge or fast-cast mods, due to the nature of the skills they use. Nor do they benefit much from +20% enchant mods, due to how they use them. Insightfull is pretty terrible aswell.

At the moment, I would run a Hale staff of Fortitude, with 20/20 on inspiration for my EDrain/Drain Enchant energy management.

As for PvE characters in PvP:

I currently use my PvE monk in PvP. Why? Mostly for headgear swaps. I can cast my Divine Boon with a sup divine headgear, then switch to minor for the HP benefits. I can also change my armor sets depending on what we are facing. (Degen: Tattoos, Warriors/Rangers: Judges, Elementalists: Wanderers.)

For PvE warriors there used to be the massive benefit of the previously imbalanced hex helm. Now it is mainly usefull so you can have 4 sets of customised weapons.

I mainly use PvP characters. My only PvP-ready PvE characters are my necromancer and my ranger, which doesn't give me much flexibility as to what to play. I have almost everything unlocked, so I can make any character I want in about a minute.

So unless I really need to be able to switch armor or whatnot, I use a PvP character. I don't play PvE much anymore, so my PvE characters don't have enough equipment to be as flexible as a PvP character.

only use my PvE warrior and ranger for PvP, for the extra range of weapons. the rest, i use PvP characters.

for extra items on my casters, i use PvE items. heard of that Xunlai Storage Agent thing, yea. just have to remember not to delete the PvP char without unequipping them *grumble grumble bout past mishaps*

You're right, the only thing the 20% cast time does for me is the occasional guardian. I've had that interrupted a few times holding off warriors. The +5 energy might not be much, but energy is everything so I'm not sure I'd want to be without it. 20% enchant...yes it doesn't do that much for you I admit.

I might think about going with inspiration items too, much more benefit.

Actually, it all comes down to armor. PvE chars can swap a set of armor anytime they like in any situation, unlike PvP are only allowed 1 set.
Ya you're right about the HP, but they say teh Absorbtion rune helps a lot so I at least think I should get one of those.

Well using a PvE character in PvP has it advantages.

You get to swap armor. "O NOES I'm taking damage (switchs off Sup Healing and using minor healing) "

You can take advantage of unique items and mods NOT found in PvP.
"Ha Ha Ha stupid warrior I will blind you."
"Fool I got a shield that reduces blindness.....ha ha its gone now."
"O NOOESS "

You can get a lot more weapons
"Ok lets see, Shield check, Sword for adralin check, hammer for rest of attacks check, Wand check, Longbow for range check......"

You can get different pets.

You can get infused in case a rare hack comes to the GW server and it makes it so Mursaat all of a sudden go into PvP games (ya that was kind of pointless)

However your going to have to pay a lot to get these advantages so PvP characters are still ideal.

Just make sure you're capable of buying whatever you want. A PvE char has acces to some rather interesting things, including more than two weapon sets (which can all be customized), multiple armor sets, FoW armor, some PvE only equipment etc. So as long as you can make some cash (a small bit of farming is enough) you have a wider selection of certain things than a PvP char. On the opposite a PvP char does not have a single advantage when you compare it to a PvE char which has been able to buy whatever he wants.

I use my PvE monk alot in HA and GvG and sometimes my warrior but i also have a pvp slot. Last night i was in a HA group and they asked for a rune set up that my PvE monk doesn't have so i rerolled and made a PvP monk. That is the benefit of the PvP slot making things that your pve character can not run. My 3 PvE's are all pvp rdy but that being said they can not do everything. The Warrior, Ele, and monk on my main account have all there primary class skills and elites unlocked which makes them very versatile but still can not match the versatility of a PvP slot. I use both the PvP slot and my PvE characters having a PvE character rdy for pvp is great so is having a 100% unlocked account for PvP creations

To those that say PVE characters are inferiour in PVP and shouldnt be done....

...Go look that the top two guilds: IQ and EVIL, which both had PVE characters in their battles.

Now please get a clue.

PVE characters have the option of swapping armors easily and having all green items.

Same here. Except for my monk I just don't have the skillz Same for my Necro and Mesmer. They have all the armor and equipment(at least collectors) to swing every skill line.

Only time I made a PvP slot, I deleted my lvl 20 Ranger for the preview weekend. Wish I would have kept him now..

I find alot of people use pve chars with green items and collectors items so they are max and dont have to worry about it I use my pve Warrior and Ranger in pvp all the time even tho i have 2 pvp slots for anything my guild would like me to run. On my warrior i use my godly weapons and greens and collectors sheild n ect. so i dont have to worry about it. Plus i was playin around with different w/mo builds in randoms (yayaya i know w/mo is a newb) but instead of having to reroll everytime i would just switch armor for axe hammer sword and etc.
